Plan with a little perspective
A Nile cruise combines accommodation, river travel and visits ashore, but the experience varies considerably between boats. Begin with the route and sailing dates, then compare the vessel, cabin and sightseeing arrangements. Conventional cruises between Luxor and Aswan, smaller dahabiyas and Lake Nasser journeys are different products; a star label alone cannot explain which will suit your holiday.
Most cabin bookings share the vessel with other guests. Your airport transfer or guide may be private while meals, deck areas and some visits remain shared. A whole-boat charter is a separate arrangement. Ask for these distinctions in writing, alongside the actual nights aboard and the places visited, before fitting the cruise into a wider Egypt itinerary.
Do not assume every boat leaves every day or follows the same programme in both directions. Request the available sailing, starting point, finishing point and proposed visit order. Some sightseeing takes place while the vessel is moored. Coordinate flights and hotels with embarkation instructions, and leave enough margin for the transition between land travel and the river.
Photographs may show suites alongside ordinary cabins. Confirm the category, deck, bed setup and any location preference that can actually be guaranteed. Ask about the meal plan, drinks, included visits, guide language and optional excursions. Facilities differ by vessel, and nearby moorings can affect views and privacy when several boats are alongside one another.
No. Unless the quotation explicitly includes a whole-vessel charter, you should expect other passengers aboard. Private guiding ashore, if offered, needs to be specified separately from the cabin reservation.
Not necessarily. Cruise programmes combine sailing, mooring and land visits, with timing governed by the route and operating conditions. Ask for the proposed balance rather than assuming every night aboard includes a full day moving on the river.
Combine destinations, change the pace or start from a blank page.
